Charlotte Knights baseball comes to Uptown Charlotte NC – after a LONG wait, the Charlotte Knights play their 2014 opening game tonight in the beautiful $54 million stadium in the heart of Uptown Charlotte!  This will be the first professional baseball game in Charlotte in over 25 years!

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and have moved to their new Charlotte skyline view stadium at South Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (former home was in Fort Mill, SC).  It’s great to see the CHARLOTTE Knights back in Charlotte after a 5-year legal battle.

All of Charlotte is  giddy with excitement that Charlotte Knights baseball comes to Uptown Charlotte NC!  Nearby restaurants, bars and pubs are anticipating pre-and post-game fans stopping by for food and drinks.  The center city stadium, called BB&T Ballpark has an open design – baseball fans can sneak a peak at the stadium through the fences – how cool is that?  Ticket holders will be able to walk around the whole stadium and take in the awesome views of the Charlotte skyline.

Charlotte Knights Baseball Comes to Uptown Charlotte NC

For the Charlotte Knights opening day on April 11, the franchise had a SELLOUT to 10,000 fans!  Ticket prices were being sold by private parties for as much as $150.  Normal ticket prices for a Charlotte Knights game will range from $8 – $18.  Team officials are hoping that throughout the 2014 season, BB&T Ballpark will have over 600,000 fans in attendance.  This is a big boon to Uptown Charlotte, which is already reaping the benefits of successful 2013 -2014 Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Bobcats seasons.

Can’t get a ticket?  Don’t worry, you can still be part of Charlotte Knights excitement – there is a large external video board facing Romare Beardon Park across the street from the ballpark.
