Two of my kids are Providence Spring Elementary School “graduates,” and I can attest to how “cool” the outdoor classroom is. There are plenty of opportunities for student growth at the school with these activities: Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, Chess Club, Battle of the Books, Safety Patrol, Girls on the Run, Young Writers Society, Mystery Class and Quiz Bowl.
The Amazing Staff at PSE
The staff at Providence Spring Elementary School is top-shelf! Led by Principal Diane Adams, the faculty has 16 National Board Certified teachers and many state and national award winners. Steve Houser was awarded the 2009 Award for Excellence in Earth Science Teaching, and Kathy Conroy received the President’s award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2009. Coupled with a strong PTA, the staff and parent leaders at Providence Spring Elementary School have been able to raise academic standards at the school each year, even in the face of stringent education budget cuts.
